I just orphaned Debian’s Initng package.
The version in Debian is very very old and hasn’t much to do with the current upstream code. New upstream releases never left my private repo, because they always had more or less nasty bugs.

The repository which contains the lates Initng packages for Debian has moved from alioth to my own private server. ATM it contains packages for i386 and amd64.
Please update your /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://debian.space-based.de/debs/ experimental main
deb-src http://debian.space-based.de/debs/ experimental main
To verify the repo with apt execute the following to import the key:
gpg –keyserver hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net –recv-keys 77AFC5B7
gpg –armor –export 77AFC5B7 […]

I just created an experimental apt repository containing Initng 0.6.2 and Initng-ifiles 0.0.3.1.
If you want to test it add the following to your /etc/atp/sources.list:
deb http://pkg-initng.alioth.debian.org/debian/ experimental main
deb-src http://pkg-initng.alioth.debian.org/debian/ experimental main
Run aptitude update && aptitude install initng initng-ifiles afterwards and you should have the new packages…

After some delay we have a fresh Initng release. 0.5.4 is waiting for you on Alioth and should be available soon in Experimental.
A lot of work in the core has been done, so lets hope some bugs are fixed. Please report the other bugs via the Debian BTS or even better via Initng’s Bugzilla.

For I don’t own an AMD64 Matteo Croce has build the package for me. Thanks Matteo! I can’t test the package, but it should be fine. If you have problems you should tell me.

It should detect wether we have a Udev version greater than 0.070-3 or not and start system/coldplug if needed.

Es ist geschafft - wir sind das gute alte (und vor allem langsame) Hotplug ein für alle Mal los.
Seit heute übernimmt Udev in Debian Sid die Aufgabe Treiber während dem Bootprozess zu laden und später Hotplug-Events zu bearbeiten. Das Hotplug-Paket sollte jetzt mit aptitude purge hotplug von Hand komplett entfernt werden.
